So what is this blog site about? At the expense of asking the obvious. Its become all too clear to me that we know far to little about our own health situations. The range not knowing is wide. From not knowing the names of medications we take, to not knowing how to speak with and ask questions of our physicians,,... concerning our own health. From not knowing how to advocate for ourselves in matters of illness, to not knowing how to navigate the cumbersome and broken health care system. It has seemed to me and I realize that this is a huge generalization, that many have become accustomed to not knowing and in fact not knowing has become the norm in many of our lives, where health matters are concerned.
Know thy health is an attempt to pass along and disseminate information about health issues that will reverse the trend of not knowing in many of our communities. Placed here will be information on nutrition, medications, illnesses, resources, and perhaps most important, preventative health measures, all aimed at transforming us into a knowing and health proactive people.
You should know the names of your medications. You should know the nature of your illness. You should know how to converse with your physician, reducing the level of medical intimidation, so that you are transformed into an advocate for your own health.
I have become very aware that those who know live longer and more productive lives.

I know that even when I cried all day thinking about how to recover, you were not sleeping, you were dear to me. I contacted the herbal center Dr Itua, who lived in West Africa.
